Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between FCL and LCL sea freight?
FCL (Full Container Load) means you book an entire container for your cargo — ideal when you have 15+ CBM or high-value goods requiring maximum security. LCL (Less than Container Load) consolidates your cargo with others in a shared container, perfect for smaller shipments from 0.1 CBM upward. FCL offers faster transit and lower risk; LCL offers cost efficiency for small volumes.
How long does sea freight from India take?
Transit times depend on the destination: India to Europe typically takes 18–25 days, India to the USA 22–28 days, India to the Middle East 6–10 days, and India to Southeast Asia 8–14 days. LCL adds 2–5 days for consolidation and deconsolidation at each end.
What documents are required for sea freight export from India?
Standard export documents include: Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading (BL), Shipping Bill (filed on ICEGATE), Certificate of Origin, and any product-specific certificates (Phytosanitary, FSSAI, BIS, etc.). Our team manages all documentation and ensures compliance before vessel cut-off.
Can Shipmaster handle dangerous goods (DG) by sea?
Yes. We are certified to handle IMO-classified dangerous goods including flammable liquids, chemicals, batteries and more. We manage proper DG declarations, packing groups and IMDG compliance documentation.
Which shipping lines does Shipmaster work with?
We have direct contracts with 40+ shipping lines including Maersk, MSC, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, Evergreen, COSCO, ONE, Wan Hai, ZIM and HMM — ensuring competitive rates and reliable space allocation.
